When it comes to communication in our personal lives, more people are starting to embrace the text message. It has become increasingly easy to reach out to friends and family with the quick note that contains important information. It has become so prevalent that organizations are getting in on the act and are using texts as an effective tool for improved communication and collaboration.
It is easy to see why this would be the case. According to a study by HeyWire, which surveyed more than 500 business professionals, 67 percent of respondents are using text messaging for business-related communications. Going deeper into the numbers, 72 percent said they use texts to speak with co-works, while 50 percent have communicated with customers, prospects and partners.
This choice of communication tool makes sense because the report also found that 97 percent of texts are read within three minutes of delivery and 98 percent are read overall, compared to 22 percent of emails.
The study also found that voicemail could be on the way out as a business communication tool. More than one third of those polled said they use their voicemail less than they did a year ago. On top of that. roughly 25 percent "never or rarely" check their voicemail.
With more organizations using text messaging to improve corporate communication, seeing how effective the technology can be opens the door for using it in different ways. This can mean partnering with an SMS service provider to deploy a new marketing strategy that reaches consumers in a way they prefer.
